Halfords, the UK’s leading retailer of car maintenance, enhancement and leisure products with over 460 stores and an active online community, wanted to boost online engagement and sales by giving customers more confidence in products. The challenge was to increase customer interaction on-site and convert browsers into buyers.
Halfords partnered with Bazaarvoice to add Ratings & Reviews and Ask & Answer, generating more than 100 daily user contributions by September 2009. Shoppers who read or wrote reviews converted 82% higher and viewed 180% more pages per session, while those who used Q&A converted 58% higher and viewed 172% more pages—demonstrating that user-generated content drove engagement and stronger sales.
