The King of Shaves boosts review volume at retail sites with sampling community

The King of Shaves is a British maker of shaving and skincare products facing stiff competition from larger brands and needing fresh customer feedback to stand out, drive sales, and improve products. The company’s challenge was to increase review volume and surface actionable insights that would help shoppers choose the right products and inform product and packaging decisions.

Using Bazaarvoice’s Sampling (TryIt) community, King of Shaves sent 200 targeted samples and received 179 reviews (89.5% submission rate) with a 4.4 average rating, helping grow its presence to more than 3,000 reviews across retail partners (CVS, Boots, Superdrug, Asda) and accounting for 99% of review volume on those sites. The reviews increased conversions (site visitors who read reviews are 155% more likely to buy and generate 139% more revenue per visitor), and the detailed feedback led to product and packaging changes emphasizing British, vegan, and eco-friendly attributes.
