Rimmel, the Coty-owned global color cosmetics brand, worked with Bazaarvoice to better understand how peer-to-peer recommendations affect purchase decisions and to boost awareness for products like its Wonder Ombre Holographic eyeliner and core mascara line. The challenge was to drive incremental sales and revive consumer interest using authentic ratings, reviews, and social content from everyday shoppers.
Bazaarvoice, through its Influenster community and VoxBox sampling campaign, targeted 2,000 beauty enthusiasts with product samples and encouraged reviews and social posts. The effort generated 1,200+ reviews and 15.7 million impressions, and delivered a 44% higher sales lift for featured products versus the IRI benchmark, plus a 69% lift in adjacent categories, showing a strong halo effect for Rimmel.
