El Corte Inglés, Europe’s largest department store group, faced the challenge of replicating its high-touch in-store service online as more customers shifted to e-commerce—especially for its Supermercado El Corte Inglés grocery chain. The retailer needed to give shoppers the trusted product information and confidence they get in stores by increasing user-generated content and review coverage across its online catalog.
To solve this, El Corte Inglés partnered with Bazaarvoice to deploy post-interaction review request emails and syndicate brand reviews across its site. In the first month the emails drove a 14% submission rate (~30,000 reviews); combined with syndication, the retailer amassed over 700,000 reviews with a 4.6 average rating, raised product review coverage from 12% to 61% (Aug–Nov 2019), and achieved a 7% conversion uplift on products with reviews—boosting engagement and customer satisfaction.
