The Boeing Company worked with Bastian Solutions to address the need for a custom automated vertical storage unit for pre-pulled, uncured composite laminates stored on aluminum trays in a freezer operating at -20°F. Bastian Solutions provided a custom vertical lift module designed specifically for aircraft composite parts storage.

Bastian Solutions implemented a two-tower vertical lifting system with a custom pivoting carriage between the towers, using synchronized telescoping actuators and electronically synchronized motors. The system delivers automatic storage and retrieval in under 3 minutes, provides 20 unique storage locations, handles up to 1,000 lbs. per lift and 20,000 lbs. total storage, and maintains lift deflection to less than 0.1" over 40".
