Technicolor, the world’s largest manufacturer and distributor of Blu-ray discs, DVDs, video games, and CDs, needed to automate its Livonia, Michigan facility to improve quality control, speed order turnaround, and provide positive verification that all orders had shipped. Bastian Solutions was brought in to design a system that could be installed in phases within an active warehouse and still meet a very tight four-month timeline before the Christmas season.

Bastian Solutions implemented a high-speed sortation solution featuring Accusort unit sorters, automatic print-and-apply, 5,000+ feet of conveyor, a shoe sorter, a TGW Ermanco narrow belt sorter, HMI, and an in-line weigh scale. The system gave Technicolor controlled flow and full traceability of completed orders, while supporting high throughput: up to 159 units per minute per Accusort scanner, 30 cases of finished product per minute, 55 cases per minute on the print-and-apply line, and 90 cases per minute on the shipping sorter.
