Southern Wine & Spirits Oregon, the regional operation of the largest wine and spirits distributor in the U.S., needed to improve order accuracy, increase throughput, gain better inventory and order visibility, and reduce employee overtime at its new Wilsonville distribution center. Bastian Solutions was engaged for industrial project and development services and to deliver an integrated material-handling solution using technologies such as the Exacta 6.0 Warehouse Control System, Hytrol conveyor systems and ProSort sorter, Manhattan WMS integration, voice-directed and RF picking, and automated order routing and exception handling.

Bastian Solutions implemented conveyor-fed pick modules, Hytrol ProSort SC sorting, Exacta WCS order waving/routing, voice-directed/full-case RF picking, labeling and HMI master control to streamline order flow and visibility. The Bastian Solutions solution produced a 38% increase in cartons sorted per day, accuracy rates above 99.5%, significant reductions in product breakage and overtime, and a rapid throughput ramp—reaching about 1,200 cartons per hour within three months and roughly 1,600 per hour by six months—while improving customer delivery times and employee engagement.
