S. Abraham & Sons needed a new automated convenience-store distribution center in Indianapolis to process and deliver error‑free orders within 24 hours, reduce transportation costs by locating closer to customers, and synchronize cooler, freezer and ambient SKUs. Bastian Solutions was engaged to design and implement the automated picking and material‑handling system, including a pick‑to‑light installation, Exacta warehouse control system with an interface to Manhattan Associates WMS, and custom cigarette sortation.

Bastian Solutions installed 1.5 miles of conveyor, two three‑level pick modules, an automated in‑line cigarette case sorter, a high‑speed shoe sorter (400 fpm), over 6,000 pick‑to‑light devices, 1,600 sq ft returns processing and 25,000+ sq ft of refrigerated/frozen space. The solution synchronized 20‑minute order waves, delivered high throughput and improved order accuracy for retail store deliveries, and increased service levels and handling efficiency—helping S. Abraham & Sons meet its 24‑hour, error‑free delivery goal.
