Graphic Packaging, a leading provider of paperboard packaging solutions, engaged Bastian Solutions to replace manual palletizing on five production lines and address reverse-fold case handling, pallet-less palletizing, 44 unique palletizing patterns and up to 10 pallet sizes. Bastian Solutions designed a bespoke automation package using technologies such as Series 4000 and 4002 palletizers, a gantry palletizing system with a specialized end-of-arm tool (EOAT), shuttle car and layer-building tables, Hyrol infeed conveyors and Rockwell Automation controls.

Bastian Solutions implemented the integrated conveyors, row-forming and rotation equipment, palletizers and stretch wrapper to automate layer building and pallet handling. The solution cut manual palletizing labor by more than 50% and delivered a system able to handle 8 cases per minute across 50 unique stacking patterns, allowing Graphic Packaging to redeploy workers to skilled positions while increasing throughput and flexibility.
