GameStop, headquartered in Grapevine, TX and a major distributor/retailer of video game software, hardware and accessories, needed to expand automated sortation while reusing as much existing conveyor as possible, minimizing electrical and controls complexity, fitting vertical product movement into a small footprint, and integrating an infeed with a GBI tilt-tray sorter in very tight areas. They engaged Bastian Solutions to design an automated sortation and takeaway conveyor solution using a GBI tilt-tray sorter, Hytrol EZ-Logic zero-pressure conveyor, Ambaflex spirals, Lo-Dell rollers and BSL pick module stairs.

Bastian Solutions implemented a takeaway conveyor system integrated with the GBI tilt-tray sorter (≈300 pieces per minute) and reused roughly 90% of GameStop’s existing conveyor, reducing initial investment and installation complexity. The integrated system sped receiving and refurbishment throughput, allowing GameStop to keep up with repackaging and reselling volumes and supporting about a 35% annual growth rate in refurbished product handling.
