Citi Trends, a value-priced family apparel retailer with over 200 stores, faced accuracy and productivity shortfalls at its Darlington, SC distribution center due to a highly manual flow-through process, limited on-site storage, and a poorly installed used conveyor. Bastian Solutions was engaged to expand and modernize the DC while keeping the original system operational, deploying automation technologies such as ASAP Automation Pick-to-Light (Acculight), Bastian Controls WCS, pivoting roller conveyor shelving and lifts, Hytrol sortation, and new racking and scanners.

Bastian Solutions reworked approximately 6,108 feet of existing conveyor and integrated about 4,389 feet of used conveyor to lower costs, installed pick-to-light, sortation, shelving and controls, and tied systems into Manhattan WMS. The implementation exceeded system design rates for both the pack and shipping sorters, delivered measurable efficiency and ergonomics improvements for Citi Trends, and was completed on time and under budget without disrupting seasonal operations.
