C&H Sugar, the Crockett, CA refinery that produces over 700,000 tons of cane sugar annually, needed to replace a 16‑year‑old ASRS, warehouse control system and VAX‑based controls software that relied on obsolete, unsupported technology — all without slowing their 24x7 production or shipping. C&H Sugar engaged Bastian Solutions to perform the upgrade and provide a real‑time interface to their SAP ERP, using the Exacta warehouse management system and Exacta warehouse control system to modernize inventory and control across 15,400 locations.

Bastian Solutions implemented Exacta WMS/WCS with a modern ASRS integration, transfer/mix and inspection stations, in‑motion check weighers and dimensioners, print/apply and scanning equipment, and a live SAP interface. The rollout was seamless with no production or shipping downtime; throughput rose 27% (115 trailers/day vs. 90 previously), packaging efficiencies improved 100%, and C&H Sugar eliminated backups, downtime and receive loop saturations.
