Cambium Learning engaged Bastian Solutions when it decided to consolidate all facilities into a single, state-of-the-art global distribution center in Longmont, Colorado. Cambium’s objectives were to grow revenue 3.5×, support that growth with existing manning, reduce labor cost per carton (15% in Year 1, 20% in Year 2, 10% in Year 3) and improve cycle counting accuracy; Bastian Solutions was selected to deliver a turn‑key storage, picking and conveyor system and automation for the new DC.

Bastian Solutions designed and installed over 5,500 feet of conveyor, two automated sortation systems, a four‑lane split‑case pick module and a Warehouse Control System tightly integrated with Cambium’s WMS, with provisions for future upgrades. The Bastian Solutions implementation improved cycle count accuracy, achieved peak throughput exceeding 30 cartons per minute, and put Cambium Learning on track to meet its revenue and growth targets while lowering labor costs.
