A Barracuda Networks Case Study
The Township of West Windsor, New Jersey (three locations, ~140 users) faced network strain when its aging Cisco ASA 5500 couldn’t handle throughput or provide reliable VPN access. IT manager Chris Wade also needed QoS to ensure VoIP quality, wanted to avoid buying another web‑security appliance, and aimed to cut costly Cisco consultant fees.
West Windsor deployed one Barracuda NextGen Firewall X400 at headquarters and two X201s at remote sites, using Barracuda’s cloud Web Security Services for filtering and malware scanning. The new setup handled throughput, provided secure VPN access at no extra cost, enabled QoS for prioritized VoIP, offloaded web security to the cloud, eliminated $17,000 in consultant fees, and improved overall availability and threat detection.
