SHORE Moves into the Future with Barracuda’s Contemporary Storage Solutions

Sydney Church of England Grammar School (SHORE), an independent day and boarding school founded in 1889, was struggling with an increasingly ineffective backup process. Daily tape backups and ShadowProtect disk images required slow, laborious transfers to an offsite tape vault, leaving the school exposed to long recovery times and unreliable offsite retention. SHORE needed flexible retention and rapid recovery of files, emails and SQL data, robust disaster recovery for physical and virtual servers, and relief for stressed storage infrastructure.

SHORE deployed the Barracuda Backup 990 and Message Archiver 450, chosen for single-vendor hardware/software/cloud delivery, granular object-level retention, and strong technical support. The cloud-connected solution enables rapid local or remote recovery (including spinning up VMware VMs in the cloud), searchable email archiving, and easy cloud replication. Implementation was simple and the school achieved faster recovery of VMs, files and emails, reduced operational effort, and lower engineering risk.
