Save time and reduce attacks: Facilitating the day-to-day work of Sarpi Veolia’s security teams on an international scale

Sarpi Veolia, a Veolia subsidiary and European leader in hazardous waste treatment with 110 industrial sites across 10 countries, faced the challenge of securing internet-exposed assets, customer extranets and aging legacy systems while pursuing a Zero Data Center strategy. After past website compromises, their security team spent hours daily reviewing logs and needed a cloud‑friendly solution that would give visibility across their largely AWS-hosted ecosystem and protect critical online resources and partner access.

After a successful proof of concept, Sarpi Veolia deployed Barracuda Application Protection to provide cloud‑delivered web, API, bot and DDoS protection. The solution was fast to configure, required minimal engineering, and is managed by a three-person team; it cut admin time from hours a day to 2–3 hours a week, blocked thousands of attacks every minute, reduced daily attacks from about 5,000 to ~100, and ensured no sites were compromised.
