Berglandmilch, one of Central Europe’s largest dairies with about 1,000 employees across 27 sites and roughly €540M in annual turnover, faced rising operating costs, impaired communications, and the need for a consistent, enterprise-wide security posture after relying on outsourced site networking. The IT team was also concerned about secure separation of their data from the provider’s other clients and mounting spam and policy-management issues.

Working with partner Systrex, Berglandmilch deployed Barracuda NG Firewalls and the Barracuda NG Control Center for centralized management, high-availability links, integrated anti-spam and URL filtering, and WAN optimization. The gateways were implemented in about 60 hours, eliminated false positives, reduced administrative effort, and delivered a payback in roughly 18 months while improving secure, consistent connectivity across all locations.
