A Barracuda Networks Case Study
Opportunity Fund, a San Jose–based nonprofit founded in 1994 that provides microloans and microsavings to help low‑income entrepreneurs and families, needed to expand services beyond California. Its aging on‑premises data center—with limited storage and frequent outages—could not scale to support national growth, and the organization wanted to cut infrastructure costs and reduce downtime while protecting sensitive financial data.
Opportunity Fund migrated its infrastructure to Google Cloud Platform and deployed Barracuda CloudGen Firewall (with CloudEndure for migration), running 20+ Compute Engine VMs and 40–50 TB of encrypted storage. The move saved 30–40% in infrastructure costs (with additional savings from VM rightsizing), eliminated downtime, improved application performance and engineer productivity, and provided robust network security and easy, secure scaling for nationwide expansion.
