NTT Data Improves Offerings with New Firewall Technology

NTT Data’s Payment Innovation Lab, which supports Japan’s CAFIS payment network used by thousands of merchants and millions of transactions, needed to meet new compliance requirements, increase transaction speed, and gain better access visibility—while scaling cashless smartphone payments for more than 24 million foreign tourists. Legacy firewalls only provided basic L3/L4 filtering, leaving the lab unable to fully secure new services or analyze risk at the application level.

NTT Data deployed the Barracuda CloudGen Firewall to provide application‑level (L7) filtering, VPN and remote‑access security, segmentation, and centralized visibility. The rollout improved security across many remote access points, accelerated development and testing in the Payment Innovation Lab, enabled more accurate risk scoring and whitelisting/blacklisting, and positioned NTT Data to expand services (including AWS dev environments and remote work) with Barracuda as a long‑term partner.
