Barracuda Networks supplied load-balancing appliances to a national intelligence program that needed reliable, low-latency delivery of UAV streaming video to analysts worldwide. With tactical decisions required within 15 minutes of receiving intelligence, the challenge was to ensure scalable, high-availability video delivery without introducing bottlenecks or service interruptions across multiple datacenters.

The team deployed Barracuda Load Balancers (model 640), using intelligent traffic distribution, failover, SSL offloading, intrusion prevention and direct-server return to keep high-bandwidth video streams flowing quickly and avoid load-balancer bottlenecks. After initially repurposing existing units, the program standardized on the Barracuda solution and rolled out appliances across theaters of operation, achieving improved performance, ease of management, and tailored engineering support to meet their operational requirements.
