A Barracuda Networks Case Study

Preview of the HarcoSemco Case Study

HarcoSemco foiled a CryptoLocker attack with the push-button ease of Barracuda Backup

HarcoSemco, a Branford, Connecticut–based aerospace components manufacturer with over 60 years in the industry, faced a major CryptoLocker ransomware attack that encrypted public folders and a server containing live financial data. With a high ransom demanded and the risk of reputational and operational damage, the IT team needed to recover critical data quickly while minimizing downtime.

The company relied on Barracuda Backup appliances (initially 690s, later upgraded to 790s) with site-to-site replication, which allowed IT to delete infected files and restore the entire server from recent backups. The result: no ransom paid, no significant downtime, and ongoing confidence in a scalable, easy-to-manage backup solution.
