Schenker Deutschland AG, a leading integrated logistics provider, needed to standardize and harden security and availability across its distributed SIGN network and numerous branch offices. The project required a solution that met a detailed 60‑item specification: centralized management and monitoring, minimal local administration, hardware scalability for very small to very large sites, and a rapid, low‑disruption rollout window to avoid interrupting 24/7 operations.

After evaluating major vendors, Schenker selected Barracuda NG Firewalls and partnered with Atos Origin for deployment. Ten pilot sites were pre‑configured and rolled out successfully, then the corporate rollout proceeded—sometimes converting sites in as little as 15 minutes—while centralized management from Meppen provided real‑time monitoring, license and policy control. The result was a uniform, highly available security infrastructure with lower administrative costs, fast rollouts, centralized reporting and proven scalability.
