Barracuda's Modular Security Solution Enables K-12 IT Administrators With Next-Generation Features

Paulsboro Public Schools, a K–12 district in Gloucester County, NJ supporting about 1,500 users across four schools, needed a modern, easy-to-manage security solution. Their previous firewall and web filter lacked SSL inspection, next-generation application awareness and granular controls, were time-consuming to manage, and couldn’t prioritize or protect bandwidth effectively.

Paulsboro deployed a Barracuda Firewall x600 and Barracuda Web Filter 810, managed through Barracuda Cloud Control. The district gained granular QoS and VPN policies, prioritized student traffic on the faster 300 Mbps link, blocked proxies and streaming/file-sharing apps, improved network performance and catch rates for inappropriate content, and simplified administration with a single management interface.
