The Health Informatics Service (THIS), founded in 2006 and hosted by Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust, delivers digital and IT services to health and care providers across the UK with a 200+ staff supporting four NHS customers (~18,000 users). After migrating mission‑critical email and data to Microsoft 365, THIS found Microsoft’s native retention inadequate for NHS regulatory and legal needs and needed a way to offload routine restores from engineers to the service desk.
THIS deployed Barracuda Cloud‑to‑Cloud Backup — a rapid, fit‑and‑forget backup-as-a-service with role‑based access, unlimited retention, and point‑in‑time restores — set up in hours and managed from a single pane of glass. The result: straightforward handover to the service desk, no support calls since the transfer, reduced engineer workload, faster user restores, and stronger assurance that critical NHS emails and files can be recovered when needed.
