A Barracuda Networks Case Study
GL Education, a leading provider of benchmarking, formative and diagnostic assessments in the UK with a presence in over 100 countries and six million online tests delivered annually, faced reliability and security challenges after expanding its digital delivery via The Test Factory. Hosted in colocation, the platform struggled with seasonal and international traffic spikes that drove costly overprovisioning, exposure to data-center outages and cyberattacks, and the need to meet strict data-security and compliance requirements for sensitive student data.
GL Education migrated its platform to Microsoft Azure and deployed the Barracuda CloudGen WAF, gaining elastic, geo-available infrastructure, automated failover and stronger application-layer protection. The move improved uptime and compliance, simplified security management, enabled global scaling without costly regional data centers, and delivered an estimated ~10% reduction in operating costs while supporting the company’s international rollout plans.
