Case Study: Exalo Drilling achieves secure, centrally managed network across 120 locations and remote drilling rigs with Barracuda Networks

Exalo Drilling, formed by the 2013 merger of five PGNiG companies, needed to unify a highly heterogeneous IT landscape spanning 120 locations —including remote drilling rigs with little or no local infrastructure— while maintaining secure, highly available services and keeping management and costs under control with a small infrastructure team. CIO Piotr Grochowski sought a uniform, affordable firewall and VPN solution to reliably control and prioritize traffic and align IT with business strategy.

Exalo implemented Barracuda NG Firewall (F100/F200/F600/F800) with the Barracuda NG Control Center to centrally manage templates, policies and VPNs. The deployment integrated the five companies into a single network, delivered centralized oversight of all sites, enabled satellite-secured connections to remote rigs, simplified administration, and exceeded rollout and performance expectations.
