Barracuda Networks Ensures Security Without Sacrifice

St Michael’s Grammar School, a progressive K–12 school in Victoria with about 1,300 students and 300 staff, needed to protect a wide age range of users accessing school resources from labs, iPads and personal devices. The school’s existing filter was too blunt—blocking whole categories of sites—and couldn’t provide age‑appropriate, granular control, BYOD protection, reliable performance, or easy administration.

St Michael’s deployed the Barracuda Web Security Gateway 610 to provide integrated content filtering, application blocking and malware protection with Active Directory integration and BYOD overrides. The appliance was quick to install, easy to manage and produced customizable reports while delivering granular access controls, improved productivity, no unplanned downtime, and a safer online environment for students and staff.
