HTC Partners with Bandwidth to Accelerate Out-of-Network VoIP Expansion at a Fraction of the Cost

HTC, the nation’s largest telecommunications cooperative (doing business as Bluewave Communications in the stimulus area), faced a gap in voice coverage when a new fiber network reached underserved areas of North Carolina. With building its own voice footprint requiring significant licenses, facilities, and more than a year of work, HTC chose to partner with Bandwidth — the nation’s 6th largest CLEC — to leverage Bandwidth’s all-VoIP network and communications APIs.

Using Bandwidth’s cloud-based APIs and nationwide VoIP network, HTC automated number provisioning and porting, delivered full phone service (numbers, minutes, 911 support) into the new fiber markets, and avoided the heavy CapEx and long timelines of building out its own footprint. The Bandwidth partnership let HTC expand coverage across LREMC’s addressable markets quickly and cost‑effectively, saving capital, reducing operational headaches, and improving customer satisfaction.
