Shaw Communications makes frontline coaching a key priority

Shaw Communications, Western Canada’s leading network and content specialist with about 300 retail locations, struggled to ensure consistent frontline coaching. Brad Eamer, manager of channel training, found most coaching was informal and hard to observe or measure across dispersed stores, so prior efforts to improve it had failed to stick.

Shaw implemented Axonify with retail-tailored leadership content plus two tools—a digital on-the-fly behavior observation checklist and a monthly coaching log—to give managers structure, accountability and reporting. With 91% employee participation on the platform, monthly coaching recorded in Axonify rose from 20% in early January 2020 to 38% by month-end and 50% by the end of February; the program paused for the pandemic and has since restarted and expanded.
