With inspiration as the new concept SDN FX architecture Supports leading-EDGE research at Keio University

Keio University’s TTCK satellite campus, part of a nationwide six‑campus system, faced recurring technical and operational problems from a fragmented, multi‑vendor network: unpredictable outages, difficult troubleshooting, limited on‑site IT staff, and rising maintenance costs. The ITC headquarters needed a simpler, more stable and scalable network that could be managed remotely and brought online quickly to support research and education.

Keio replaced the legacy setup with Avaya SDN Fx Fabric Connect—deploying VSP core switches, ERS edge switches, Avaya Wireless LAN 9100 access points and WOS orchestration—to centralize control and simplify configurations. The three‑month migration delivered smooth cutover, steady high‑performance connectivity, easier remote management and authentication flexibility, fewer configuration errors, and a scalable architecture ready for future campus expansion.
