Santa Brígida City Council Improves Its Voice and Data Communications with Avaya

Santa Brígida City Council, a municipality on Gran Canaria, struggled with unreliable and expensive communications caused by rugged topography, dispersed municipal buildings, no fiber, poor ADSL links, and a patchwork of outdated, vendor‑diverse voice systems that made management complex and blocked a safe migration to IP.

Working with Avaya partner Mistral, the council deployed a WiMAX last‑mile network plus Avaya Ethernet Routing Switches and IP Office 500v2 with IP desk phones, enabling centralized voice services, clear separation of public and municipal networks, simpler remote administration and faster changes. The result was lower maintenance costs, rapid rollout, improved call quality and citizen service, and a robust, easy‑to‑manage platform for future IP expansion.
