A Avaya Case Study
Nicholls State University, a Louisiana-based institution serving 6,500 students and staff, faced significant challenges when its legacy communications system from 2003 neared its end-of-life. The university had no remote work capabilities, a critical shortcoming when the COVID-19 pandemic forced it off campus. Additional challenges included a lack of agility to respond to events like Hurricane Ida, a desire to keep personal and professional communications separate, and non-compliance with NG911 laws. To address this, the university turned to vendor Avaya and implemented its Avaya Cloud Office solution.
Avaya's cloud-based solution provided an easy-to-use, work-from-anywhere platform for calls, messaging, and meetings that kept the university connected during the pandemic and a major hurricane. The implementation resulted in an estimated $60,000 in annual savings, improved user experience, and ensured compliance with Kari’s Law and Ray Baum’s Act. The Avaya solution proved crucial for maintaining uninterrupted operations and enabling new use cases across campus, from the police department to the financial aid office.
