Central Islip School District, a Long Island public district serving about 7,500 students across eight schools with 500 teachers and 1,000 staff, faced an aging phone system with poor voice quality, limited features and high operating costs—so poor that lines produced static in bad weather. Reliable school-to-staff and parent communication was at risk, and the district needed a modern, easy-to-manage solution.

CISD deployed the Powered by Avaya IP Office cloud VoIP platform and 380 Avaya desktop phones, gaining voicemail, caller ID, auto attendant, programmable buttons and consistent voice quality. The cloud move cut monthly phone costs by about 75%, simplified management and support, sped up repairs and configuration changes, and improved staff and parent communication—while enabling future safety integrations and eFax plans.
