A Avaya Case Study
Blue Springs School District, a Missouri district serving 14,700 students across 22 schools, was managing 144 servers spread over 23 locations and an overburdened IT team. Faced with new state‑mandated online testing, the need to consolidate infrastructure, reduce power consumption, and simplify server management became urgent.
The district upgraded its Avaya 10Gbps backbone, installed Nutanix smart storage appliances and VSP 7000 switches to centralize the datacenter and virtualize services (including a single TSM for testing). The change cut about $100,000 a year in power costs, reduced server management time and personnel needs, enabled near‑instant VM deployment, comfortably handled the testing load, and is expected to pay for itself in roughly 36 months while improving user performance.
