Avaya Technologies Support Outstanding Educational Opportunities and 21St-Century Skills at Madison County Schools

Madison County Schools needed a reliable, scalable network to support instructional plans across 20 schools and more than 10,000 students, while keeping bandwidth transparent for teachers and accommodating a rapid shift to mobile and BYOD devices. Key challenges included delivering gigabit connectivity within and between schools and increasing guest network security to safely support students’ personal devices and community visitors.

The district deployed Avaya ERS 5500 and 8800 switches, Avaya Wireless LAN 8100, and Avaya Identity Engines Ignition with Guest Manager to enable high-performance wired and wireless access, streamlined guest authentication, and centralized policy control. The result was consistent, high-speed connectivity and controlled BYOD access that supports 21st‑century teaching, simplifies management with a single vendor, improves reporting and CIPA compliance, and provides the scalability to grow without major overhauls.
