Avaya Builds Solid Communications Infrastructure for Berglund Construction

Berglund Construction, a family-owned Chicago builder founded in 1911 with about 350 employees and multiple offices and long-term job sites across the Midwest, was operating on a 25-year-old phone system that suffered frequent outages and couldn’t support growing needs for field collaboration and mobility. The unreliable infrastructure hindered communication between offices and dispersed crews, creating operational and productivity challenges on large projects.

Berglund implemented the Avaya IP Office VoIP platform across its offices and job sites, using its scalability to treat large sites like extensions of the office rather than relying on cell phones or hard lines. The solution delivered lower phone costs, greatly improved reliability, mobile twinning and simple plug‑in extension mobility, made deployment easier to scale for future sites, and enabled better collaboration with plans to add video conferencing.
