Lockheed Martin faced a persistent recruitment challenge: roughly one in five employees are ex-military, but service members prepare to transition up to two years before their ETS while corporate hiring timelines are much shorter, leaving candidates in a stressful “black hole.” To overhaul this experience, Lockheed Martin partnered with Avature and built an award-winning, veteran-focused pathway called Handshake 2 Hire using the Avature platform.
Handshake 2 Hire uses an Avature-hosted signup portal, universal tracking links, time-triggered communications, skill self-identification and automated matching to hiring managers, creating a two-year, candidate-centric engagement rhythm. The results speak for themselves: unique military candidate engagements rose 77% (1,950 → 3,450), accepted offers increased 90% (279 → 529), interview-to-hire improved to 1.96:1, and employees reached by the program grew from 300 to 500 — all delivered on the Avature platform.
