DHL Scales Global Operations with AutoStore

DHL Supply Chain, a global logistics leader, faced the challenge of scaling its warehouse operations across diverse international markets to meet rapidly growing e-commerce demands. They needed to dramatically improve productivity and optimize efficiency without expanding their physical footprint, while also enhancing worker ergonomics. To address this, DHL partnered with AutoStore to implement its automated storage and retrieval system.

The solution from AutoStore involved deploying a modular, high-density grid system with over 1,000 robots across 12 facilities. This implementation resulted in a 5x increase in productivity and enabled a consistent throughput of 500 units per hour. The ergonomic goods-to-person system also saved workers an estimated 12 kilometers of walking per day. The success of the AutoStore system has led DHL to plan further expansions of its automated footprint.
