Industrial Giant BASF Discovers 200,000 Network Endpoints in One Day

BASF, the world’s leading chemical company with more than 110,000 employees and hundreds of production sites, needed to classify every device on its heterogeneous global network to support a rollout of IEEE 802.1X authentication and accurately estimate upgrade costs. BASF selected Auconet and its BICS (Business Infrastructure Control Solution) after Auconet convincingly passed proof-of-concept tests demonstrating vendor-agnostic endpoint detection and classification.

Auconet installed BICS in under one day and discovered and categorized 260,000 endpoints within four days—about 80% detected in the first eight hours—bringing every port and device under active management. Auconet’s real-time visibility and centralized control let BASF precisely calculate security upgrade costs, accelerate IEEE 802.1X implementation, and improve MAC-layer security and threat detection across its global network.
