How TELUS Scaled Telecom Analytics with AtScale’s Semantic Layer

TELUS, one of Canada’s leading communications and technology companies, needed a better way to analyze performance data across more than 200,000 wireless cells spanning 3G, 4G, and 5G networks from multiple hardware vendors. With each vendor using different formats, definitions, and metrics, TELUS turned to AtScale and its semantic layer on Google BigQuery to create a scalable, vendor-agnostic analytics foundation.

AtScale helped TELUS implement a governed semantic layer with low-level vendor-specific models and higher-level unified KPIs, automating much of the modeling with Python scripts and preparing for future Semantic Modeling Language (SML) workflows. As a result, TELUS now has a single source of truth for telecom analytics, faster and more consistent insights, and a more scalable foundation for dashboards, optimization, troubleshooting, and future network growth.
