DocuSign, a San Francisco–based provider of e-signature technology and digital contract services, needed to scale agile across its 300-person Engineering and Technical Operations organization as it grew to 30 teams in multiple locations and time zones. The challenge was to add necessary process and visibility for releases without losing the flexibility and team-level agility that had driven their product development.

DocuSign implemented Atlassian’s Jira for project management, Confluence for collaboration and reporting, and Hipchat for team communication, augmented by integrations (including DocuSign forms and Marketplace add-ons like Lucidchart) to automate workflows, capture approvals, and maintain an auditable release trail. The integrated solution improved cross‑team visibility and planning, enabled compliant, automated release authorization, and helped raise project delivery performance from 53% in 2014 to 86% in 2016.
