Avalara, a provider of cloud-based tax compliance solutions serving over 30,000 customers, faced fragmented tools and a “folder nightmare” that made collaboration, discovery, and cross-team alignment difficult. Teams duplicated work across systems, struggled to get executive buy-in and consistent project visibility, and found it hard to track progress from planning through delivery.

By centralizing on the Atlassian platform—rolling out Confluence and Jira Software across engineering, operations, HR, and marketing—and adopting automation and Advanced Roadmaps, Avalara created a single source of truth and streamlined workflows. The changes improved communication, speed, and alignment while automation processed 20,000 tickets, supported an Inclusive Language project that updated 600+ tickets and 225 Confluence pages, and implemented 825 inclusive edits.
