Case Study: Twilio achieves scalable global collaboration and faster development with Atlassian Confluence

A Atlassian Confluence Case Study

Preview of the Twilio Case Study

Atlassian and its ecosystem help Twilio collaborate and streamline processes on a global scale

Twilio, a cloud communications company that provides APIs for voice and messaging, grew rapidly from 176 to 500 employees and from three to 25 engineering teams in three years. That scale-up created a need for cohesive, scalable tools to manage projects, processes, and cross‑team communication across offices in San Francisco and London.

Twilio adopted Atlassian’s Jira and Confluence, extending them with Marketplace add‑ons (e.g., Delegated Project Creator, Jira CLI) and custom integrations via the API/Connect framework to automate workflows, delegate project administration, and provide a single source of truth. As a result, teams across engineering and business functions gained greater efficiency and transparency, shaved days off development cycles, and were able to tailor tools to diverse business requirements.
