Online Audio Content Leader Unlocks Self-service, Contextualized Data

Snowflake, a leader in online audio content, needed a better way to make its data in Snowflake self-serviceable and understandable for a wide range of users. The Data Engineering and Architecture team had relied on Confluence for documentation, but it was hard to search, hard to keep current, and not embedded with the tables themselves, leading to constant back-and-forth with data consumers and slower time to insight.

Snowflake implemented Atlan as its data governance, documentation, and discoverability layer on top of Snowflake and Airflow. By using Atlan to document critical assets, add context, surface saved queries, and guide users to the right level of access, the company improved self-service, reduced repetitive support requests, and enabled better governance and data democratization. The case study does not provide hard numerical metrics, but it reports faster decision-making, improved adoption of Snowflake, and a more efficient support model for the data team.
