A AssetWorks Case Study

The University of Utah - Customer Case Study

AssetWorks partnered with two large universities — the University of Utah and a leading southern university — to address the common challenge of managing campus energy across hundreds of meters, aging home-grown systems, and complex vendor billing. Campuses consume large amounts of energy and needed accurate utility validation, department-level cost allocation, and better tools to support sustainability goals and reduce manual, error-prone processes.

Using the AiM Energy Management module developed through a customer Special Interest Group (SIG), AssetWorks treated meters as assets within an integrated workplace management system, automated meter reads and billing, and added business intelligence for benchmarking and preventative maintenance. The result: meter-reading processes shrank from a month to two days, numerous utility billing errors were uncovered and corrected, departments can be billed accurately, and campuses gained improved accuracy, reliability, and actionable data that drove cost savings and better energy decisions.
