AssetWorks partnered with American Electric Power (AEP), a major U.S. utility with a 4,600‑vehicle service fleet across 11 states, to address rising safety, response-time, outage-duration and fuel‑use concerns. AEP needed real‑time vehicle location, vehicle-type identification on dispatcher maps, in‑vehicle navigation prompts, and reporting to better allocate crews and monitor driver behavior.

AEP deployed AssetWorks’ Field Service Solution with BBX GPS/telematics units and integrated it with AEP’s Orbital database. Dispatchers now see closest vehicles instantly, cut fuel and overtime costs, locate drivers in emergencies within seconds, recover stolen vehicles quickly, and use historical reports to optimize crew deployment—producing measurable safety improvements and potential fuel savings up to about $1 million annually.
