Case Study: City of Oxnard achieves award-winning paperless, data-driven fleet management with AssetWorks FleetFocus

A AssetWorks Case Study

Preview of the City of Oxnard Case Study

How the City of Oxnard became an award-winning fleet by sharing technology and information with everyone

The City of Oxnard, California—a coastal city of about 200,000 residents and the largest city in Ventura County—manages a $34 million fleet of roughly 935 vehicles with a team of 42 staff (32 technicians). As the fleet grew, Oxnard relied on a homegrown database and paper work orders with little historical data, hindering efficiency, parts management, billing accuracy, and fact-based decision making.

Oxnard deployed AssetWorks FleetFocus (InfoCenter, shop kiosks and later laptops), implemented dashboards and KPIs, and integrated NAPA for parts fulfillment. The result was a paperless shop with real-time labor and parts capture, minute-by-minute Time & Materials billing, reduced repair cycle times, higher vehicle availability and transparency across departments—achievements that helped earn Oxnard the #3 Public Sector Fleet award in 2008.
