A AssetWorks Case Study
Scott County, Minnesota, which manages a roughly 1,200-asset government fleet, was struggling with very low preventive maintenance compliance (PMC). Two departments—the Highway Maintenance and the Sheriff’s Department—were averaging about 15–20% on-time compliance, dragging countywide PMC down to roughly 40%. Root causes included inappropriate PM intervals for high-mileage sheriff vehicles (400 miles was too short) and a communication gap that relied on manual emails and delayed responses.
After attending AssetWorks Academy, Scott County implemented FleetFocus Notifications and related best practices: PM intervals for high-mileage units were extended to about 1,000 miles, drivers or supervisors were assigned as notification recipients, and automated 5-day and imminent alerts plus targeted training were rolled out. The result was streamlined scheduling, far fewer manual emails, and dramatic improvement in compliance—targeted departments reached about 89.9% PMC and overall countywide compliance rose to approximately 87%.
