A AssetWorks Case Study
King County Metro Transit (Seattle/King County) operates a large, diverse fleet—about 1,400 transit vehicles plus 600 vanpool vans—and has a strong public-environmental mission. By 2005 the agency was constrained by a manual, error-prone fuel and fluid tracking process that left it vulnerable to waste, theft and the risk of vehicles running out of fuel while in service. Metro needed a real-time, integrated solution that would improve data accuracy and support its clean‑air goals.
Metro implemented AssetWorks FuelFocus integrated with FleetFocus to automate fuel and fluid management. The system centralizes data, provides precise reporting (including early-morning fueling checks), auto-detects anomalies, and prevents overfills and theft with vehicle-specific dispensing controls. As a result Metro quickly identified leaks, eliminated fueling discrepancies, improved MPG monitoring, reduced fuel consumption and repair costs, and strengthened its award-winning environmental program while supporting cleaner fleet operations.
