Kinetic Solutions is a higher-education software company founded in 1998 that had grown to serve over 300 customers worldwide by 2014. Its founders, Chris Wildsmith and Steve Ashley, wanted to accelerate growth through acquisitions and expand internationally but lacked the capital, legal and IP counsel needed to pursue those plans.

After AssetWorks acquired Kinetic (2015), the company gained the funding, legal expertise and access to Constellation Software’s global community, which enabled Kinetic to buy competitor Occam Systems and scale organically. AssetWorks also provided training and mentorship that strengthened leadership—helping Kinetic grow significantly while focusing on employees, customers and long-term stability.
